Although the final piece is purely 2D animation, I first modelled the whole scene in 3D to build a precise reference for the light/shadow animation. I drew everything in Photoshop (including the framed paintings) and animated all lights and shadows in After Effects. Only the goldfish was animated in TVPaint.
